Fathers - Wrestling with Your Angel (Pt. 10)
Again, wrestling with your angel is a reality that no man can avoid. Every man has a weakness, and every man wrestles with his own weakness. Judges 14:1-4 “One day, when Samson was in Timnah, one of the Philistine women caught his eye. (2) When he returned home, he told his father and mother, A young Philistine woman in Timnah caught my eye. I want to marry her. Get her for me. (3) His father and mother objected. “Isn’t there even one woman in our tribe or among all the Israelites you could marry?” they asked. Why must you go to the pagan Philistines to find a wife? But Samson told his father, Get her for me! She looks good to me. (4) His father and mother didn’t realize the Lord was at work in this, creating an opportunity to work against the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.”
Yes, every person has a weakness, and usually God uses a person’s weakness for His glory. The point is that Satan’s strategy is to use every man’s weakness against him. Satan’s intent is to destroy the man, his family, and his people in the process. This point cannot be overemphasized enough. Please note that there is a common denominator in this scenario. Satan is also an angel, but he is a fallen angel. John exposed Satan for who he really is. “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and to destroy. (John 10:10a) One thing that must be emphasized is this: ‘If a man is going to wrestle with an angel, he must at least be aware of the angel he is wrestling with.’ Every man must not just realize who he is wrestling with, but why he is wrestling. If the enemy wants to destroy a family, he will always begin with the man! Again, this will be continued in our next blog, but until then, I challenge every man to consider that there are always others at stake, not just the individual himself.
